Professional

A Chartered Architect, RIBA Client Design Advisor and CDM co-ordinator, with almost 40 years of experience, Neil has expertise in most aspects of architectural practice. This includes project management, development of building design brief, design concept origination, design co-ordination, production drawings, specifications, contract administration, site inspection and final account negotiation.

Neil is a Director and owner of emBarkArchitecture, which is an RIBA Chartered Practice.

With a particular focus on good client and stakeholder communication and liaison, Neil works closely with clients in developing and managing effective frameworks and partnerships for schemes. He has wide experience on projects from feasibility to completion and operation. Neil has recently spent a lot of time working with various large Care provider clients to develop a programme of assessment, new build development, extension and renovation of building stock, to provide and maintain modern, attractive and usable premises. He has a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the various care registration bodies and their involvement in the development process, and incorporates this within schemes.

Recent work on new build and renovation care projects in the UK and abroad seeks to balance high quality design with value engineered solutions for clients so that both their funding and operational requirements are met. As part of the feedback process learning from previous developments allows particular successes to be reflected in future work.

Neil has acted as an expert witness on construction and contract matters and as Client Representative or Employer’s Agent for many projects. His work as an Assessor for the RIBA CPD Providers’ Network enables him to keep up to date with technical, legal and design issues.
